By mid-2024 Victoria's Secret was a case study in a brand that had lost its cultural permission: sales sliding after the pandemic boom, activist investors circling, and a company that had spent years apologising for its own image without finding a new one. In September 2024 Hillary Super — who had built Savage X Fenty's product operation — took over as chief executive of the struggling intimates giant.

Super's repositioning moved the brand from transactional discounting back to emotional territory: 'we are so emotional, tapping into how she feels about herself, being a place where she can be confident or feel great,' she said — paired with the return of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2025 and new product leadership across the PINK and lingerie lines.

Just as important was the unglamorous part. Rather than debating whether bras should be sexy or comfortable, management refocused the core bra assortment on fit, comfort and styling — and the rebuilt frames lifted sales across the category and pulled adjacent sleep and beauty products with them.

The numbers turned in fiscal 2026: first-quarter sales rose 15%, earnings beat, the stock soared 47% in a day to $79.86 under its new VSXY ticker, and second-quarter profit nearly tripled as full-year guidance was raised to $7.1–7.18 billion from $6.6 billion a year earlier.

Q1 fiscal 2026 sales up 15%, stock up 47% in a day to $79.86; Q2 profit nearly tripled; full-year guidance raised to $7.1–7.18 billion against $6.6 billion a year earlier

The brand's problem was positioning fatigue, not awareness — so a new emotional register and the Fashion Show's return restored relevance faster than discounting ever could.

Refocusing the core bra assortment on fit and comfort fixed the actual purchase decision, converting brand heat into repeatable transactions.

Regular-price selling and stronger merchandise margins replaced the promotional spiral the brand had been stuck in.

Super's Savage X Fenty pedigree meant the repositioning was built by someone who had already modernised an intimates brand once.

A heritage brand's fastest route back is emotional repositioning plus unglamorous product fixes: the fashion show brought heat, the bra-fitting brought repeat purchases.

The recovery kept compounding through 2026: a second straight quarter of market-beating growth, raised guidance, and external validation from analysts calling the turnaround durable. The sales miss in one quarter still rattled investors — the price of a 47% re-rating is a high bar — but the company entered its second turnaround year with margin gains, brand heat and a product pipeline that no longer depended on the Fashion Show alone.
